. Pluramon: bit sand riders remix cd (Mille Plateaux) Press writeup: Teh individual components that are essential for the monistic Pluramon sound came through clearly and can be found on "Bit Sand Riders." Take the fat, dark rock rock track of the Scottish band Mogawi, the airy track of Sensorama's exquisite composnig with guitar sounds, the sweet melodic approach of Brittian's band the High Llamas all the way to processing of sounds by laptop Mego master Hecker. Pluramon emerged in 1996, and as a band have provided some of the most creative approaches to immersing accoustic and electronic sound thus becomming one of Germany's most respected acts. "Bit Sand Riders" moves beyond the relm of being a typical remix project; it acknowledges the present reality that digital instruments are becoming acceptable tools for even some of the most lo-fi bands of today. Unlike when Pluramon's first album "Pick Up Canyon" was released in 1996 when hard disc recording required the necessity to search for new music that was relevant to the medium, today, technology and programming advancements allow music to be refined within the digital domain. Some of today's finest musicians appear on this project: Roman Flugel of Sensorama; London's High Llamas; Cologne electronics prodigy FX Randomiz; Mego member Florian Hecker; the remarkable frequency shapes Matmos; mastermind Atom Heart under his Atom™ guise; Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo assisted by Wharton Tiers and Jim O'Rourke; Mille Plateaux's own minimalist techno duo SND; the noise evangelist Merzbow from Tokyo; plus a remix from Pluramon himself. Lance summary: A solid remix album following up on the Formant remix 12" that came out on Mille Plateaux earlier this year. But this album is more of a downtempo listening affair as opposed to the more floor-friend Formant remix 12". The marriage of Pluramon's tranquil guitar-based journeys with some of today's most innovative electronic producers creates some very entertaining and listenable results (with the exception of the Merzbow remix but you know what to expect from him - noise!). If you have an aversion to guitars then avoid this release, but if guitars & electronics dont frighten you then you'll find this remix album very rewarding. Recommended! Release infos: . Hmm.. so what does the Atom mix sound like? He's such a varied freak it's hard to guess, but the possibilities are pretty exciting.. (I presume "=99" is the digest not liking Lance using formatted text and it's actually a Atom TM.) I'm looking forward to the next couple of Mille Plateaux releases in general. I understand a second SND full length is coming out after this Pluramon release... Not that I found it easy to sit through a whole album of SND's repetition, but they still intrigue me. Michael np. Yes it is Atom TM (sorry for the formatting problem) and his remix is very good and not as varied/hectic as his other Atom TM stuff. Just nice somewhat funky cutup electronica utilizing the Pluramon guitar sounds heavily.

I agree. The release schedule for the whole Mille Plateaux, Force Inc, Force Labs, Ritornell stable is relentlessly solid. Especially looking fwd to the new SND album as well. Their last three releases on CCO, Blir & SND have all been great.

Another good one from the Tom label. Thoough I was a little less enthusiastic about the recent Tom label releases by Rafael Toral and the For Friends 99 comp. -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
