being that i haven't seen a review of the transmission festival held this
past fri. and sat. i guess i feel it my duty amd obligation to give a little
insight of the happenings at trans. fest.
many in attendence in this quaint town of the tar heel state, otherwise know
as carrboro, aka chapel hill.
laptop rokken was the apparent centralized theme; with more than half of the
performers utilizing their point and click wizardry.
highlights (this is completely subjective): fennesz (i will quote esther
rolle, playing the part of florida evans in the highly acclaimed television
show "good times," after recently being made aware that james senior, played
by john amos, has recently died in an automobile accident, "damn damn damn!"
), kim cascone-shit could this guy be anymore intense, kevin drumm, marcus
schmickler, pita,
hvratski (who was very congenial)
vote robot (who was slightly less congenial), john fahey (this guy
was amazing, no pointing and clicking for him, he dished out straight improv
and prog rock on his borrowed ax).
lowlights: none really except i missed out on the french paddleboat cds for
sale. (damn damn damn!)
i have to say that when fennesz, pita, and marcus schmickler come to
detroit, go see them you will not be disappointed.
anyways bye now
