or if you want an intro to similar stuff take the
'portraits' sampler (new albion na-009) with a fantastic
track 'fog tropes' by ingram marshall.
i remember another good one by john adams was 'harmonium'
or 'harmonielehre' (or both) on german jazzlabel 'ecm'.
his operas i found quite annoying.
