have always felt that Aphex generally holds a certain amount of disdain for the 'album' medium, that its justa contractual obligation he has to meet every now and again. I think this format might be what he loves best, just dumping random tracks that he's made but might not have fitted the concept of the album demanded of him from record companies like Warp. I think your absolutely right about the analord stuff being a dump as well. Even his latest album feels like a mix of the tuss, druqs and the analord series. I think the lack of a teleological thread in his work is what makes him so interesting. he goes up, back , sideways. Look at Squarepusher, in his desire to continually 'innovate' or mess around with current trends he is making some of the worst music (in my opinion) of his career

Still think there is nothing else like it.... the weird reverbs as effects, rather than on the mixer send/returns, the odd panning choices, the lack of regard for mixing convention, the subtle dips and changes in volume - all things that make music interesting to me are present and correct - and tbh id rather listen to sub par aphex that the majority of hi-gloss electronics today
can see why he dumped rather than released - good for fans to have this music but at the same time not tarring his discography with stuff that is ultimately just revisting things he has done before...
i mean the Analord series was a similar dump really, no?

That, and it's totally fine for people to have opinions, even if it's contrary to someone else's.

i think there's every reason, given that i painstakingly compiled, tagged and shared the whole lot to the IDM list.

No reason to reply to make a statement about how you don't care. Just don't listen, don't reply, and move on

to be honest i'm bored stiff of it all now. like, since the dump started i've re-listened to 0 tracks.the datassette "offal" collection on the other hand is packed with quality.
while it's great to hear the stuff from the past, my conclusion:AFX= overhyped nothingness, powered by trainspotter fanbois :) there's better listening elsewhere
I can't even be bothered ripping the undownloadable tracks

Up to 200 tracks now! Still no download links for the new stuff. I haven't even had time to listen to any of it yet.

He just posted another one. A 20-minute noise ensemble of weird frequencies and mechanical growls.
I listened to the whole thing, was a pretty interesting journey.
