Has anyone heard the Balanescu Quartet's covers of Kraftwerk? It's about 5 or so Kraftwerk tunes, done completely on a string quartet - it works VERY well and is very haunting. Excellent listens, even if only once. BTW I have Kraftwerk 1, Kraftwerk 2 and Organisation in MP3 format - would anyone be interested in this stuff? (I don't advocate piracy but these are all out of print, so I don't think I'm doin' any harm here). If I get enough people interested, I could post them in a newsgroup...... Yep, pretty cool. Anyone interested could dig in the archives - the album title is in there somewhere, because it was discussed earlier this year.

Kraftwerk 1 and 2 are still available, so I wouldn't be surprised if Organisation is as well. A friend of mine has the first two on CD. Michael np. this was performed on the pbs show 'sessions at west 57th' (is that the right title?) hosted by david byrne. he joined the balenescu quartet for the cover of 'the model.' no idea if this is available on a disc anywhere.

there's also an excellent cover of "Autobahn" on a 10" from Cha Cha Cohen which was released on Lissy's... Done very cheesy with I think a cheap Casio.... I hated it at first but it has "something". And off course "The Model" by Big Black which was pre Digital hardcore if you want to call it like that:) -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: MIDIBear <midibear@mich.com> Aan: IDM Maillist <idm@hyperreal.org> CC: brucelef@mindspring.com <brucelef@mindspring.com> Datum: donderdag 25 november 1999 6:48 Onderwerp: Re: (idm) kraft and kraft covers

I just saw Organisation's _Tone Float_ and _Kraftwerk 2_ at Neptune Records in Royal Oak, Michigan. If interested, call 248-586-0519 to secure copies.
