On Saturday, November 20, Technot Events presents another evening of underground electronic music as Boston's Stewart Walker and New York City's Unit come to Toronto as part of their 11 date North American tour.
Walker has utilized a subdued minimalism reminiscent of recent work by Plastikman (Richie Hawtin). The result is an album that succeeds on the dance-floor as well as the living room.
Unit's latest full-length album The Narcoleptic Symphony (Caipirinha) is a gorgeous combination of sad, soaring, melodies undergirded by a complex rhythmic treatment that recalls the sound of electronic pioneers Autechre and u-Ziq.
Also performing original pieces in a minimal techno-house vein will be Toronto?s naw (a.k.a. Neil Weirnik).
Technot resident DJs Utility and Oval Roaster round out the night with sets of driving, rolling music that rocks the body and stimulates the brain.
The location is The Blue Moon (725 Queen St. East), a few doors over from the Opera House. Since the summer, this venue has been booking quality DJs and is attracting fans of electronic music wanting an intimate place in which to groove. Check it out!!!!
