ok, since everyone seems to love these lists, i have a proposed topic for you. how about a list of IDM discs you bought, traded in because you didn't like them at the time, and then had to buy again later when you realized they were actually great. here's my list. i actaully can't belive i didn't like some of this stuff at first. i was just starting to get into electronic music and my neural pathways were not properly re-wired yet. i have also included some of my thoughts at the time of purchase. global communication - 76:14 (upset because somebody told me it sounded like selected ambient works ii) aphex twin - i care because you do (except for alberto balsam, not enough melody) autechre - incunabula (upset because it didn't sound just like amber) seefeel - quique (way too much repetition) biosphere - patashnik (nice ambient bits, but the beat oriented tracks ruined the mood) kraftwerk - computer world (one of the very first discs i bought in 1985. seemed like a novelty record at the time. what the hell did i know at 15?) polygon window - surfing on sinewaves (just plain boring) ---------------------------------------------- D is for Desond thrown out of a sleigh ---------------------------------------------- bruce levenstein bruceLev@mindspring.com ---------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

hmm... not as much idm stuff, but still... b12: electro soma (thought it was really boring) fuse:dimension intrusion (ditto, with too many claps) mr. bungle:s/t (why? why would anyone ever sell this? a classic.) beastie boys:check your head (i needed money) led zeppelin:led zeppelin ii (thought i had grown out of classic rock. there are others that i'm going to have to purchase again. 'in through the out door' for example.) i think that's about all i've *really* regretted. and then picked up again. alan! np:idm remix chain. geez... this is good stuff. isn't it funny how long it takes to give some things a proper listen? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
