Moody Boyz were a favorite of mine a few years ago and the album you saw was one of the best things they did. You saw either the Product of the Environment album on the Guerilla label or the remastered reissue called Recycled for the Environment on the SSR label which came with an extra cd of new tracks and remixes. Regardless of which one you saw, the sound of the Moody Boyz releases is a mixture of ethno- techno, techno-dub, breaks and ambient electronica. The remixers on the SSR version include Black Dog, Insync, Digidub, Lords of Afford (Andrew Weatherall), and The Arc. I find the Moody Boyz stuff very enjoyable and the remixes are just as good. Give it a listen. You wont be diappointed. -->-Lance--- mclance@nacs.net lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

As always, you were right, Sir Lance (a-lot). Thanks for the advice and I've gone back and snatched it up, except that it's on the Prime label (huh?)

Pity it wasn't this remix version, which looks promising. Whatever happened to them? I think the only other place I saw them was a track on that fundraiser for the homeless (Coming Up From The Streets) from about 2 years back?? I * ~ you can also mail me at <lime909@hotmail.com>

I think Prime was the distributer on that one or maybe it was a Prime/Guerilla join release.

Actually there was a remix cdep on Guerilla that was released shortly after the Product of the Environment album. It was called Recycled for the Environment and it contained all the remixes that later appeared on the reissued 2xcd SSR version of the same name. Regarding the Moody Boyz now, as bauri mentioned, Tony Thorpe is busy as founder & head of the Language UK label. I dont know of any newer Moody Boyz releases, coproductions, or remixes since the Recycled for the Environment 2xcd but maybe i missed something. Maybe Tony "retired" from producing just like his former KLF bandmates did. : ) -->-Lance--- mclance@nacs.net lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Tony Thorpe is now doing nu school breakz as Wayward Soul on the Wayward label. He has also done remixes for Fundamental and Banca De Gaia under that name. The new Fundamental album-lengthed single, Why America Will Go To Hell, is a very cool collection of remixes that marry the sounds of Meat Beat with Muslimgauze, and don't have too much of their militant rap. actually many many years ago Moody Boyz used to be tony thorpe AND jimmy cauty but jimmy left the band when the KLF "left the industry." from that point on Moody Boyz was only tony thorpe. tony now runs the language UK label. -->-Lance--- mclance@nacs.net lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
