JHNO is John Eichenseer from the Bay Area who started out recording material that he described as "ambient experimental organic techno industrial narratives", and later brought some drum'n'bass elements into his work. His discography so far is: JHNO: Understand CD (Delicate Ear) - 1995 JHNO: the evolution of consciousness through resonance CD-R (Delicate Ear) - 1997 JHNO: Fly 12" (Delicate Ear) - 1997 JHNO: kwno CD (Delicate Ear/New Dog) - 1998 In addition, he has an excellent collaborative project with guitarist John Ridenour called Spool with one release out so far: Spool: Spool (New Dog) - 1998 The JHNO/Delicate Ear website is at http://www.sirius.com/~ear/, and the New Dog site is at http://www.newdog.com (although the latter hasn't been updated for a while, and they may be in limbo due to thier affiliation with the dead/dying World Domination label). I can't say much about JHNO by himself since I've only heard his solo stuff once (the album KWNO). I do, however, very highly recommend his collaboration project with John Ridenour called Spool. As far as I know, they have only one album, but it is incredible. It was recommended to me at a local record shop by an employee who put it in his top 3 favorite albums along with Boards of Canada/Music Has... and Global Comm./7614 which are also two of my all time favorites. He went a step further by saying that Spool was his favorite of the three. While I wouldn't go that far, I do consider it to be one of the best cds I've bought this year. I'm not going to attempt to write a review of the cd, but I will say it has somewhat of a global comm. feel to it in places without being anything of an imitation. I'm actually surprised I haven't seen anything about it on this list, unless it was discussed before I joined. -Pete pzaback@iastate.edu np: Spool - Spool (couldn't resist after I started thinking about it)
