well, i finally got my copy of l'usine on isophlux (props to tjeff for the
disc). anyhow, it's some fine stuff. electro-y, tweaky, and fun as hell.
the autechre nods are there, but they don't overwhelm the songwriting. it's
all head-noddin' electronics with a serious attention to melody and groove.
i guess other comparisons would be beaumont hannant, early orbital, some of
the newer german electro, the 12k/disko b guys, old reflective. . .
jeff also slipped me a CD-R with some other stuff on it, including the
forthcoming remix of a protocol track (a disturbing slice of dnb/noise
involution). haven't heard the rest of the twelve, but it's off to a nice
start.
