Has anyone else heard anything by If Then Else? The cd in my local store had a little description attached with it and it said something about Bola & Black Dog and er... I think Boards Of Canada for reference points. Also mentioned that there were If Then Else tracks on a comp. called Emanated-- which sounds damn familiar but I can't quite place it. Anyhow, sounded interesting but I'm hesitent to pick it up until I hear something from IDM. thanx Howie

all of the emanate output has been top notch thus far - the latest full lengths by if.then.else and lilienthal being no exception. for a taste of emanate live, if.then.else and solenoid will be performing in chicago and cleveland on sept 10 & 11 respectively. m/j *** ** ** * * * ** * * * * * /bin chicago [http://www.enteract.com/~egoiste/bin.html] On Tue, 17 Aug 1999, Howard Shih wrote:

I've been meaning to post about the two new Emanate full-length cds by if.then.else and Lilienthall. Both are shining examples of the beautiful mellow melodic electronica sound that made the Emanated comp my favorite release of 98. I dont think Black Dog would be a good comparison to the sound of Realizations (the name of the if.then.else album) but the bola one would fit. Other comparisons that I would draw include boards of canada, sun electric and the recent thug release. Also highly recommended is the new Lilienthal cd called Castor & Pollux. It features a similar melodic electronica sound but it infuses some more complex rhythmic structures and time signitures. Comparisons to this sound would be David Moufang, Mouse on Mars, and maybe System Error. I highly recommend you get both the above cds! Also around the corner for emanate will be a limited 7" by Sybarite. More comments on that one soon... -->-Lance--- mclance@nacs.net lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
