Hi! I just bought the double CD version of THE ADVENT's "Element Of Life" (on Internal). Great stuff, with potent techno a-la CJ Bolland's 4th Sign (no suprice, since CJ's collaborator Cisco Ferraro is half of the Advent), and some refreshing electro too. The double CD has 16 tracks, and is almost excactly 100 minutes long. Highly recommended! right, here goes. [sorry, no electro content here] Buy it. because it's good, and they put effort into it. Steve Bicknell is god and Surgeon. It's fuckin pricey, but if you like Advent, you'll like this ... i think infer what you will

Someone told me it sucks and another said it ruled. I kind of want to get it, but the guy who said it ruled is kind of a dick. The girl who didn't like it is really super sweet and is friends with this promoter guy that puts on awesome parties and said that, y'know, even though they took the time to put it out and everything, it didn't make up for a lack of creativity. This DJ I saw at the record store was saying that she got it because there was one particular track on it she just HAD to have. She's a green-haired stoner who's kinda into whatever the crowd wants, but she still plays a couple cool tracks whenever I hear her play and she plays enough that she can afford $40 for one track. I was having some email awhile back about the Advent with this guy who is usually very grumpy and he replied enthusiastically that they were one artist/band/whatever that could put out an album of disco waltzes and he'd eat it up like a sucker because they have a sense of structure and punct! uation that he didn't hear anywhere else (uh, yeah). Sorry if this is a sucky review, but I just got back from coffee and I just had to type SOMEthing...I'm sure someone else will post something more informative! eric

Hello Eric, concerning The Advent - Shaded Elements, I think it is a really good release. It is definitely in more of the Minimal vein than there full-length Elements of life. No electro-ish stuff on Shaded. Look at the people that remix Advent, if you like their style or if you like minimal techno than get it!! If you are more into the electro side of Advent, you probably won't care for it, as much. I have been listening to more Surgeon and Planetary Assault Systems - Vol 5, so I dig it, cheers B i l l S a m u e l s w l s @ U . A r i z o n a . E D U

I can't figure out who wrote this and maybe they'd rather remain anonymous. But I've got a message for them: Get help! Or perhaps go back and look at the Molly Bloom section of 'Ullyses' by James Joyce and figure out where precisely you lost the plot. And I'm in the "they can do no wrong" camp with respect to the Advent. --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities" -- First Timoth 5:25, to which I can only add "Spodee Odee!" Eric, Man, that was the most fucked up message I've ever read...I'm drunk and scrolling that one made me dizzy as hell! I've seen this LP, wondered if I should pick it up and haven't decided yet...there's something that's telling me no...maybe I'm just getting real sick of 4 to the floor? nah... Example: Robert Miles, dreamland. Just can't get over that one...The same fucking beat on most every song...sometimes fast, sometimes slow, but the same never the less. Thunk, Thunk, Thunk, Thunk. Sounds like hollow wood to me. Brainchild used the same beat on 'Synfonica' really well, but Miles just made it cheesy! Can someone out there tell if 'The Advent' LP is anything special? I love to know! brock ps: there's still 6 copies at arons, they've been there for weeks. So I'm not the only one thats scared to pick this one up! np: The Prodigy - Experience (can you say fiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrre?)

The Advent definitely aren't cheesy. They also do stuff as "G Flame and Mr. G" - quality deep house/techno-house material. The Advent material is usually harder techno. BVL Peter Becker wrote:
