you're going to have to find the purpose on your own, but i'd recommend a
start by buying pink floyd's "relics" from 1971. the original "Cirrus
Minor" is on this cd, which is packed with innovation. "relics" is solid
melancholy psychedelia, and has influenced many rock music styles that
emerged decades after relics was released. although there is no "idm" in
old pink floyd, there is much to appreciate.
i really enjoyed "VaT's" cover because he took an old song that was ahead
of it's time, and morphed it with a style of music that is advanced by
today's standards. this cover made the connection of psych rock and idm.
