Did you mean to say the Vinyl Comm promotional disc??? [J/K--though I did notice that about 50% of the tracks on there are by current or future Vinyl Communications acts...Ariel, Disc, Kid 606, Lesser, Personae...] If you liked what you heard there, you should check out the VC label. www.vinylcomm.com --- Peace Hugs and Unity Jason J. For the record MMR has no affiliations with vinyl comm. Our comp is only similar as far as the fact that we both feature vinyl comm artists. When was the last time your heard a jeff mills style techno track on a vinyl comm. cd or a fax style ambient track on an vinyl comm cd? I am not against vinyl comm (like them quite a bit) but I don't want to give anyone the wrong impression of what mmr is about. MMR is not about any one sound (listen to the RA and you will notice that right away) sorry to be an ass but the person who posted is giving the wrong impression. I enjoy crticism but only when it is informed. I have worked very hard to make this a reality and I don't want anyone to misrepresent what this is about. -daniel Head Monkey Mad Monkey Records On Thu, 1 Apr 1999, Jason J. Tar wrote:

Daniel, You might have noticed the "J/K", which was used to mean Just Kidding. Just found the artist list striking. Didn't mean it as a slight against you, just that the person who liked the tracks they hear might be interested to know that they could find more tracks by those artists through the VC catalogue. Was NOT meant as a criticism on the compilation.

okay thats cool. Email is a funny thing. I read it a few times and could not decide whther it was just a joke or not. So I let a couple of other people read it and they agreed there was malice present. Words without tones are hard to decipher. no hard feelings. on the idm tip: the lo fibre comp on invisible records is absolutely stunning. Review this weekend. -daniel Head Monkey Mad Monkey Records On Thu, 1 Apr 1999, Jason J. Tar wrote:

I just wanna say that your reaction was not unreasonable at all. I put a lot of effort into what my label does and a lot of heart and spirit into it. And when you're starting out, you don't get a lot of tangible stuff back. Similarly, I can relate to my roommate's annoyances as well. He's on my label (yet to release anything) - does the one guy one guitar kinda thing. He played at cosuardstockapaloozathon 98 fest (plug plug), and all went well. One of our acquaintances later said to him "At least I don't have to play my roommate's birthday party to get a gig". I always passed that off as just someone talking... but then I did a DJ set at a rave at 3am that was not even all that good for my stuff normally and got bitchslapped textwise on a few of the scene's websites. So I pretty much pledged to myself that I would avoid criticizing anyone's art harshly, or in a non-constructive manner. Bush and Creed don't count, though. Just some thoughts to the list out there. Oh yeah, anyone in Dallas, I'll mention again I'm playing some time Saturday night at Illusions (http://www.angelfire.com/tx2/raves), and Fluoroscopic Kid will be doing a live PA. I'm still told Yarn of the Moonfruit will play, and they're very noisy and abstract, so that fits the list too. $5. Come on, live a little.
