Hi, last weekend, as I was a bit bored, I read the new release list on videotext on VIVA (German music tv). And there I read that Soup was shedluled to be released in Germany last week and was surprised. Did I miss all those announcements and reviews of Bola's Soup on idm or was this a mistake? What is the official release date ? Yes, indeed. I can happily confirm that it has been unleashed upon us. I got mine on Saturday from Picadilly Records in Manchester. A bargain at only 10.99 UK Pounds on CD, considering that new releases in HMV, Virgin, etc now cost a staggering 16.49 UK Pounds - what a disgrace. (Yep, that's about $27 just to buy a 'domestic' new release here in the UK!) Finally heard this. Very impressive. Very, very impressive. Two influences/reminiscences: New Age twinkly leads, J. M. Jarre majestic chords. Not that there's anything wrong with that. The influences are slight. From start to finish it is powerful and original. And beautiful, except for the ugly parts. Zone out on psychoacoustic mind-candy. Miau-miau International's post about the hidden meaning of "Bola - Soup" (I had wondered serveral times "Why is it called 'Soup'?", and still didn't figure it out) reminded me of something I noticed a long time ago but never saw mentioned here (unless I mentioned it myself and forgot). The Plaid logo is the same right-side-up as upside-down. I could check the IDM archives, but is anyone seriously expected to download and search so many files? does anyone know if and when bola - soup will be available on CD again? It seems to have been deleted everywhere. Thanks
