Hey, while I'm posting I should as well plus some interesting releases that I
didn't see discussed yet.
I would urge anyone with the slightest interest in turntable/sample-based
music to check out Erik M's first CD "Zygosis" (out on the French label
Sonoris). Erik M is a turntablist from Marseilles and although this is his
first CD he's done lots of collaborations already (with the likes of Jim
O'Rourke, Otomo Yoshihide, recently with Christian Marclay -- he even opened
for Sonic Youth last year at the famous Olympia !) He's quite fun to see live,
and his CD is even better! He covers a lot of ground between silliness -- the
opening track sounds close to Stock, Hausen and Walkman -- and pure noise --
he has those cool "spaceship" sounds. Really something to look for IMHO.
Also the Italian label Snowdonia just put out a new compilation CD called "The
Last Famous International Gluttons" that has an I.S.O. (Otomo Yoshihide,
Sachiko Matsubara and a percussionist whose name I forget) track on it.
Haven't heard it yet but it sounds promising! Also the CD has a Trumans Water
track so it's definitely a must-have.
