Being somewhat of a fanatic, I have both... The Surgeon collaboration is fantastic... icy black ambience, occasionally with rhythmic pulses, usually without. Not really like Lull... too sharp, piercing, if that makes any sense. The Harvey/Harris CD was a massive disappointment. Not much variation in beats or sounds, pretty wanky. Much worse than Overload Lady (which I didn't think much of either way, though I hear Total Station is better). Can someone recommend a Surgeon record to get (single or CD). I like this cd a lot, and I love his remix of Mogwai too... Add to that my growing fascination with dark 4 on the floor bangin' techno, and I figure Surgeon is wear I should be looking... though other recommendations are welcome. --- the humble abbott arthur purvis set his hand hereto

both 'basictonalvocabulary' and ' balance' are quite good, although i find the newer balance (on tresor) to come off as more accomplished and, well, balanced. good, intricate minimal cubezirc hard grooves plus some ambient experimentalism. any of the downwards 12's are highly recommended as well, though harder to find these days. tony is also a white hot DJ who can make entirely new tunes seep out of doubles of your favorite and most familiar records. a very nice level headed guy as well. peeeeeece, -- Jeff Davis pHlow@earthlink.net fn:216.533.6303 fx:216.266.2310 text:2165336303@mobile.att.net pHlow.linx: home.earthlink.net/~phlow/ Bochum Welt: www.bochumwelt.com Rotator Locator: hyperreal.org/music/rotator/
