Heres some slightly relevant musical content. Public Enemy just put a new track called "Swindlers Lust" in both MP3 and MP4 (huh?) at http://www.public-enemy.com/mp4/index.html. Get it before Def Jam comes a knocking (any minute now). P. E. gets total props for doing this. The track ain't bad at all.

Everybody here should check out the MP4 deal...very interesting. It's sort of like a self-executing audio file..you don't need a player or anything. And it sounds really good. Does anybody have any more info on this format? === chris wicks cwicks@rocketmail.com http://drthunder.ml.org/~cwicks _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? the audio segment of mpeg4 gives you a ' palette ' of compression tools for achieving low bite rate audio . i suspect that the flavour of compression used here is the ' general audio coding tool ' , which is pretty much based on mpeg2 AAC audio coding but souped up a little bit to include a few new extra tricks . check out the mpeg home page at http://drogo.cselt.stet.it/mpeg/ for the whole lowdown . the spec got publically released about 2 / 3 weeks ago . hope this is some interest ? mark b .

Basically MP4 is like a self-extracting, self-executing sound file? Given the warezpuppy status of MP3s, I think I'll stick to them. I don't run CUPHOLDER.EXE when I get it either...
