summation:
lovely, lovely melodies everywhere accompanied by infectious drum
programming and a healthy smattering of samples. it's good. really
good. in fact, it's so good, you can eat it with a fork. this release
definitely deserves mention on the 'best of' 1998 idm poll.
yes, the packaging is flimsy but nothing that can't be fixed with some
elmer's glue. (just be really careful and patient...)
to add to the discussion of hip hop meets idm, the east flatbush project
is a superb mutant blend of hip hop 'electronics.' the 12 remixes are
pulled off rather nicely and perhaps this is a showcase of things to
come regarding hip hoptronics. (yes, that's my own little name for the
merging of the two genres.. copyright and all..)
on a different note, anyone else notice the 're-release' of tango n'
vectif and bluff limbo (domestic) on EFA?? saw both titles at a few of
the larger 'chain' stores for $14.99. (the word rephlex was nowhere to
be found on the sleeve... so i'm assuming this is a re-release of some
sort..)
super mad props to p.j. / skimo for sending the bola and east flatbush
project to my doorstep in 3 days flat.. (just in time for christmas...)
nice day,
christian
