Grabbed this immediately but was pretty disappointed. Squarepusher turns in the best remix - sped up vocals and funky beat but tied nicely into his live sound. Autechre mix is okay but not one of their best, Freeform was a bit aimless, Phoenecia was pretty nice - I liked this one. Funkstorung was okay but again, totally average. The Sluta Leta remix is probably the most different - some nice sounds but doesn't do that much. I thought there'd at least be one or two really good remixes on here but everything sounded a bit unsurprising - remix by numbers, the Squarepusher remix is cool though. Got the Alien 12" on (goddamit) Blue Room Released. The original is appallingly bad, the As One remix is big-beat sounding (whats up Kirk?!?) but the Plaid remix is cool and sweet. Bola LP is really nice. Quite old-sounding, like the first Gescom on Skam. But pretty nice although _Aguilla_ is the stand-out of this, as it was on the 7". A bit samey perhaps and the opening tracks sounds like Vangelis remixed it. Great sleeve design. || [CiM] || cim_@hotmail.com || - ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

I felt much the same. Is it just me or are all the remixes either super-Autechre-y (Funkstorung, Sluta Leta, Phonecia, Bisk, Ae, Trapezoid....) or sound like the original (Herbaliser, Nick Fury, Ko-Wreck Technique...)? Best thing about it is the DR sleeve... -jerremy

Is this the Chocolate Industries version? LP or CD? If its the C. I. version, a tracklisting would be nice to compare to the Ninja Tune version. Details, please!
