group - Radian label - Rhiz cat - rhiz4 with remixes by ramon bauer and peter rehburg very interesting mix of mego-ish noise / samples with random bass lines and 'acoustic' drum programming. (could be a combination of live percussions and synthetics..) comparable to general magic and pita pairing up with pluramon... go see the waterboy, christian -- " Heavy Signal Processing. i agree with christian. i just got this last week and have been enjoying it ever since. the whole 5-track ep is over a bed of oval-ish feedback/ distortion. a definite for fans of the mego/rhiz sound. also good is the new Fuckhead cd on Mego. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Anybody have any thoughts about Austrian group Radian's self-titled release from '98? From the New York Times: Radian: "Radian" (Rhiz). Scratchy, staticky noises by an Austrian electronic trio, accompanied by real bass and drums, which give it a delicious tension. Sounds interesting... Lukas

Yes this is worth picking up. A solid ep of megoish electronica including a remix by rebherg & bauer (aka Pita). I didnt notice the "real bass and drums and delicious tension" than the New York Times writes about but i enjoyed it nonetheless. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Fabulous...get it. Though this could be taken as a bad review, I'd say it's Panasonic if played by post rockers. Basically without easy category. Unique and refreshing....real instruments *and* analog fuzz... but without the self realized novelty of Add N to X. Rhizome ( correct me if I'm wrong, spotters) has a tie to Mego, I believe. At the least they're a part of that "scene". Its an EP, too so its cheap. Highly recommended. Peter

whoa... i'm really seriously hoping this is a joke! there is SO MANY great austrian music releases.. mego would be the best place to start.. and any of their artists (farmers manual, fennesz, general magic, pita, etc...) truely the most innovative and intersting labels of the past few years- covering everything from digital fuckery to idm-y stuff to noise to techno to industrial.. then look into the many other great labels, such as sabotage/craft, ORFkunstradio, rhiz, cheap, tanz hotel, etc. really quite a great scene going on over there.. later, mlt

The only other thing currently out that I know of is a remix on the recent Max Brand - In Memoriam remix 2xcd. There is a forthcoming Radian album, called TG 11, that will be a joint Rhiz/Mego release in the next month or two. It will feature eleven new tracks all in the style of ther cdep on Rhiz. Tracklings for the TG 11 cd: 1. ucotherm 2. spektr 3. tornio 4. r4 5. bor 6. sinus 440 7. okazaki fragment 8. tg 11 9. moveg 10. kadjet 11. ison Hope this helps. -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
