This is excellent. I think when people talk about the recent UNKLE full-length not being as monumental as the early stuff, this is some of the early stuff their talking about. The original (on this record) still has got to be one of the funkiest head-nodding tracks of all time. Blows away the version on the 'Headz' comp. Just as essential IMO is the killer Portishead Vs. UNKLE track on side b. This and other Dummy-era remixes really solidified my respect for Portishead, putting them miles ahead of the other various vocal/electronic hybrids (EbtG, Lamb, Sneaker Pimps, Morcheeba, whoever). Also includes two Plaid remixes (I think it's 2, maybe just 1). - Brad

I have to correct you. The version on Headz (U.N.K.L.E. vs Major Force) _is_ actually the original version. It was first released on o'Wax vs Major Force 12" (MWMFW004). THe 2x12" 'The Time Hase Come' features versions (U.N.K.L.E.'s 'If you find earth boring mix' and 'U.N.K.L.E. vs. Howie B.') ande remixes (the Portishead remix and two Plaid remixes - 'Sassafras' and 'coffehosue conversation'). And yes, that's what people refer to when they talk about the early U.N.K.L.E. stuff. BTW, the UNKLE album ('Psyence Fiction', now UNKLE without dots!) is great too, you just have to keep in mind that the lineup is different (DJ Shadow instead of Kudo/Goldsworthy, Lavelle stays) and the idea is different. Bye Sebastian (who is really deep into U.N.K.L.E./UNKLE and wants to put his hands on 'Trilogy' and 'Ape vs. Mo'Wax') -- Sebastian Herrfurth (seher@cs.tu-berlin.de) the Drome/NUF/SMC page - http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~seher/BerndFriedmann/ the Neotropic/SFWS page - http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~seher/RizMaslen/ the inofficial DJ Krush page - http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~seher/DJKrush/ a D&D/Myer/S'Apex page - http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~seher/DanielMeier/

Surely you have this the wrong way around; two *incredible* Plaid remixes (Sassafras and Coffee-house conversation) and some other stuff. adam
