I just paid $2.95 for a Digital Hardcore sampler called "You've got the fucking power", and I would recommend it to anyone, particularly those who are angry about anything - I first played it after watching 'waco - the rules of engagement' - anyway I'm English, and we couldn't get a Celine Dion single for that price so I say go and buy it, and support our German friends. ps one track even sounds to me like RDJ in one of his more sinister moods... loves mikexx

mentioned on the idm list. admittedly the production values aren't of yr normal idm fair, but just think of it is as trading the high tech intelligent production values of someone like richie devine for the sardonic wit and creativeness of shizuo. both are really just heightened forms of dance music. I bet all Idm'ers who are above twenty and who's parents pay to go to school and work 10 hours a week in there dad's law firm think they are to cool for digital hardcore but anyone else who isn'ta technosnob could could find redeeming values in most DHR especially alec empire solo stuff, christoph de babalon, sonic subjunkies, patric c etc. ost of the music doesn't really make sense to people over 25 anyway so they don't really count:> over & out P.S. for americans looking for a cheap fix the dhr comp is only the cost of a postage paid envelope from dhr in new york.

for your information: i am 27 / have a lot of idm AND Digital Hardcore stuff (i even have the TEST TUBE KID tape) i have seen for example Alec Empire and Atari Teenage Riot a lot and i can tell you that most people at that gigs where "in their twenties".Same for the underground raves i went to and the REAL harsh sounding scapes produced by industrial bands. but if you know the filosphy of Alec Empire then i have my doubts that he would like to be put in a pigeonhole.. any way on the last ATR gig i saw the people weren't dacing at all but slamming and jumping around and putting their heads into the speakers.....raaaahhhh... :)

DHR = IDM? That sounds reasonable. Since DHR releases are now being re-issued in the U.S. for cheap, you can should pick up them all up. Alec Empire's "The Destroyer" and "Squeeze the Trigger" are classics, IMHO. I also recommend Bomb 20's "Field Manual", which is a marriage of Baader-Meinhoff, Hank Shocklee and a seriously overloaded mixing board. Also if you can find it, DHR has released a strange newspaper about all the artists. Its done in a early Re/Search punk style and has a lot of humorous stuff in it. Dig those Shizuo comics.
