Don't know if this is revisited material but I just saw the book:
Generation E
Totally got involved in the chapter in which the author describes what's
up with IDM (which he refers to as "electronic listening music").
Two premises I gathered from the book as a whole:
1. IDM is elitist - (hypocritically?) so
2. You don't really experience electronic music without a drug
experience.
Hm...
Anyone actually read the whole book? It seems quite comprehensive-
