Hi all. I'm looking for suggestions of other artist & labels to check out in this realm.. For definitive purposes, here's what I've been buying lately: Perlon [Stephan Laubner so far] Kompakt [various] Ernst [thomas brinkmann] Basic Channel/Chain Reaction [pretty much anything, particularly porter ricks & monolake] DIN minus [consumed & concept variations] Who am I missing? I mix this stuff so CD only releases get low priority... But I'm still interested. Also, anyone know which are the more rhythmic releases on Endpoint? Thanks, -Ted [is Dave/not breathing still on here?] ===== oo00oOo0Oooo00oOo0ooOoOo0O0oO0o0oO000o0oOoOOoo0o00oOooOooOo \/ ignatius@lucidmultimedia.com - te_one@yahoo.com oo http://www.lucidmultimedia.com/~ignatius/ >||||< "I'm glad there weren't any major hassles like UU riots and such stuff. I would recommend getting some from Ratio or Die Rhythmiker on the Central label. Some older Cari Lekebush records are pretty awesome (labels Hybrid, Drumcode). The california based Cytrax label is really good. Kit Clayton, Dj Jasper, etc. great domestic techno on thge minimal tip. SURGEON!! Most everything he does is quality. Neil Landstrumm - Bedroom & Cities Claude Young is almost always good. Oliver Ho use to be pretty awesome, now he is kind of hit and miss. Oh yeah, most of this stuff is a bit harder then the stuff you mentioned. So take that in mind. Cheers PS - Various Artists - 8, 8.5, 9 [Fat Cat]. This is a must have!!! --- "Ignatius J. Anything in particular? :Pole Heard of.. Haven't heard much by. :Oval The local shopkeeper mentioned this, he said it sounded like a skipping CD which I found interesting.. :Oh yeah, most of this stuff is a bit harder then the :stuff you mentioned. So take that in mind. Heheh.. Sometimes I get a little less ambient.. Proper EQ'ing can make all the difference. ;] :PS - Various Artists - 8, 8.5, 9 [Fat Cat]. This is a must have!!! For Klonky The first thing I would recommend if you are looking for something off kilter would be anything on the Frieland label. It is a Mike Ink based project that was intended to replace Studio One. Very minimal, very weird and klonky, these records are very much mix tools. Think of that Mike Ink Polkatrax vibe with very difficult listening digital timbres. Studio One...need I say more. As an interesting side note; all synth sounds on the Frieland records were made with the Yamaha FS1r. For Techno On a more dance tip, I would recommend "Eleventh" by Exos on Force Inc. It is pretty dancefloor, but it still has the CR/BC sound going for it. I find that I pitch it down to -15% when I listen to it. Good stuff if you want driving techno with BC elements. "Headphoneasy Rider" on Black Market International by Baby Ford is another good double pack to check out. It is just a nice minimal techno album with interesting percussion and good sounds, with a few ambient tracks thrown in for good measure. It isn't a basic channel sound alike, it has its own sound. You can put it in a downtempo 4/4 minimal techno set and it will fit right in. It is dancefloor enough to fit into a set, but it is still listening oriented. For Ambient Any of the Gas releases: Konigsforst, Zauberberg, Modern EP...These are more minimal dark ambient oriented, but they are great records. Very dark, very moody, of all the music Wolfgang Voight has released, these records are my favorite. Any of Thomas Koner's solo Material(Aubrite, Permafrost, Teimo, Nanatak Gongamur) this is ultra minimal dark ambient. Thomas Koner is half of Porter Rick's and his earlier work is sonically in the same vein. Think of Port Gentil at half speed without the rhythmic elements. Take care, Mike Taylor NP Terry Reily : Music For The Gift William VanLoo wrote:

I would add: more beat-oriented: -Theorem vs. Swayzak: THX1 is out already, THX2 is out now too I believe (on THX/m_nus) -Kit Clayton: Nek Sanalet (on ~scape) more ambient: -Pole: LP1, EP2 (releases on Matador/Kiff SM, ~scape, Din) -Oval: Systemisch (on Thrill Jockey) Cheers, Bill -- AppNet MidWest Interactive [formerly Sigma6] / http://www.appnet.com now available: http://techno.ca/cognition/show598.htm always on: http://www.chromedecay.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
