here's a brief description of an interesting release that i came
across. basically taken word for word from the photocopied blurb that
was taped to the CD wrapping. if anyone has some other info about this
group, please share. thanks...
SUPER E.S.P.
: self-titled (cat# HEFTY 08)
Four tracks of hip-hop and punk influenced jungle & drum'n'bass from
Casey Rice (Designer) & Damon Locks a.ka. Black Nuclear Power. You're
probably familiar with Casey from his 12" releases on Soul Static Sound
& Organico, as well as engineering for Tortoise. Damon was the lead
singer for the late Trenchmouth. As SUPER E.S.P. the two mix masters
create some hyper-kinetic drum'n'bass tracks, one with a slower dub
bass-line, an industrial influenced mid-tempo groove with noisy scratch
effects, and all with a dark, gritty ambience that gives a film-noir
feel to the record.
my best comparison would be a more 'organic' and downtempo version of
LESSER's latest offer. (with some film / soundtrack samples of early
Portishead style..)
