i had this faxed over from brighton, so i transcribed it
for you: (need i have bothered?)
8.15 Consume
this guy knows the deal! abrasive, experimental + no rules. tracks
featured included: vomit lunch, patric c and some new trash
recordings. it worked well, building up the noise on decks and cd
through a fuzz pedal. layered up to the full extent, great start,
full respect.
9.00 speedranch ^ jansky noise
speedy introduced himself & jansky with flexovit on bloodfist,
mutating + corrupting the white noise with a fury of
crossfading/scratching. this transformed beatwise into DJ6666 and was
subtley smeared all over with merzbow mayhem by jansky. this led into
a bit of 'give up' on ambush - classic - ripped up by jansky again,
slicing it with a scratch up of Ground Zero. Speedy then went apeshit
(spilled his beer or something) and his backspinning of Scud's 'back
in the charts' left the resident punks mesmerized. a collage of bjork
and dan hekate followed, and suffered the same technological abuse.
Ill rekkids were there, getting it on. and matt(soon to be wed)wand
was seen strutting, wide eyed and slavering. the set ended with piklz
beatz, moon landing tapes and a bit of plotkin spliced in for luck.
10.05 Matt Wand
matt- famed for his pioneering work at the bleeding edge of 7"
technology, renowned for collage of rabbit and deer, and who also
does a bit for stock hausen & walkman- was up next. DJing is
not his forte: badly cued Stranglers 'Something better change',
tunes played at the wrong pitch, and beat mixing all over the shop.
he flows with a sense of dubious hysteria. As he back spinned Fad
Gadget into Sigue Sigue Sputnik, we realised that, for an organised
man, matt will never showcase on '1 in the Jungle'.
thank you, and goodnight.
