Err, yeah, but most likely not a damn one of you could ever hear
anything close to 30 kHz, & if by some chance biological fluke you managed
to have that ability, you would never find any sound system that could
produce those frequencies. It's basically around a 20 kHz ceiling at best
for both human ears & sound systems, & at the sampling rate of CDs, they
can represent frequencies up to 22.05 kHz. Of course, that doesn't mean
they are represented well. CDs have a standard sampling rate that is at
the bare minimum of what can represent the basic gist of high frequencies
& that is probably their biggest audio flaw. 96 kHz certainly would be
nice.
But I'm not writing to praise CDs over vinyl or vinyl over CDs because
that's stupid. I like both, they both have good & bad aspects, & beyond
that it's personal taste. I'm writing to request an end to this topic.
This was the topic that got me to quit this list about a year ago after
only being on it for one day (about 60 vinyl vs. CD messages that day got
me off immediately) & it took me until about a month ago to resubscribe,
so please don't destroy the list again. Just enjoy music your own way.
Music always sounds good.
