Just wanted to let you know--I assigned mu-ziq:"Brace Yourself Jason" to
my technology and popular music class for this week. They write journals
every week on the material, and comments on that track were generally
very favorable, even from people I wouldn't have expected to think so
(people who are usually pro-live music and anti-electronica (as in
sequencing and sampling)). We're doing sampling and copyright this week,
so I was pointing out the James Brown:"Cold Sweat" samples. "UUHH!" Yeah...
Squarepusher:"Coopers World" was a big hit last week too. The jazzheads
were saying things like, "the musicianship is really evident." Woo-hoo!
In a few weeks I'll hit them with some hard stuff :) ... you *know* I'm
enjoying this! J
