new release by cEvin Key and company-
"Music for Cats"
subconscious electronic orchestra under the direction of cEvin Key
works recorded by cEvin Key between 1994-1997
the subconscious orchestra:
cEvin Key
d.R. Goettel - synthesizers
Genesis p Orridge - narration, voices
ashok sarkar and john west - voice, flute
philth - synth
spybey - ambience
music ranges anywhere from beautiful orchestrations with vocal
narratives, to sound/sample loops and crunches over dissonant synth
progressions, incredible programming using a wide variety of analog and
digital keyboards/modules, 'ethnic' instrumentation and sound collages,
and drum programming which is very rhythmic at times, but can suddenly
shift to out of sync percolations with 'off-tempo' rhythm loops.
(hmmm... i believe that's a run on sentence(s)....) not as 'fluid' as
current download material. (just to make some sort of comparison) much
more experimental in style, sound, and has a 'freeform' (not the band/
person) feel to it. it's a wacky wonderland full of great material and
definitely worth the 15 bucks. (distrib. by metropolis)
ithops for everyone,
chrisTiaN
:btw, anyone have/heard Architettura by savvas ysatis and taylor
deupree? (should appeal to mego and a-musik 'fanatics.') and 'songs of
the siren' is a wonderful comp. of d'n'b, acid jazz, and trip hop
accompanied by female vocals. (shadow records) i'm finished......
