Wonderful if you're into this kind of thing! Not this-listy at all, more proper to the ambient list. Exactly as its title suggests. Not the throney part, but the droney part. Not a beat in sight. Drones, from ethnic to electronic. Get tantric, get down, get bored to tears? Call me silly, but I like it, even though I almost never listen to it. Requires a certain mood to appreciate. Most of the drones are rather dark, by the way. I listen much more to Sheila Chandra's drone album, which surprisingly (as it's a single artist's work, rather than a comp) seems to cover more varied mood territory. Enjoy! 3

I'll also recommend the 'Isolationism: Ambient Vol 4' compilation. Just picked this up last week when I found it at one of those chain store's cast off bins for $5. It's a 2CD comp of beautiful drones w/ a little bit O' beats. ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Re: (idm) throne of the drones Author: "Zenon M. as usual, our numerical friend hit it right on the head...just to add, there are in fact three volumes of the drones comps, all in the same vein...i find them very good in the am, to get started...the chandra album is a gem, "abonecronedrone" on realworld.... tom w np: the spirit of vampyros lesbos

And they're called _Swarm Of Drones_ and _Storm Of Drones_ and the 2nd volume is 2 CDs and the third volume is 3 CDs (can't remember which title goes with which volume, tho - sorry). cya brian -------------------------------------------------------- "The most dementing of all modern sins: the inability to distinguish excellence from success." - David Hare
