about the abovementioned: could someone give me additional info on their output? heard one track on that 'elements' australian 2cd compilation and it was pretty good fare all in all. what's their typical sound like? also: does anyone have the following available for sale/trade? bowery electric 12" with disjecta remix muslimgauze fatah guerilla 3cd nav katze never mind the distortion 2 more random food for thought: while listening to that recently-released joy division 4cd box set, and specifically the track 'as you said,' (which also appeared as the b-side to the 12" 'video 586' release on touch this last year), i was struck by the similarity to the modern-day output of skamsters all around. only this shit was produced circa 1979. go figure, kraftwerk my ass. and enough about that event horizon soundtrack: the majority of it (save for a bit of orbital) was produced by michael kamen, the savant behind other beauties like the (hahaha) 'schwarzenegger: last action hero' soundtrack. j e an- p aul tr emb la y || | | || ||| | | || | http://swankarmy.net/transmit | | || ||| | || || || | | au d 10 v 1d e 0

"As You Said" was originally recorded in March of 1980 and appeared uncredited on the JD "Komakino"/"Incubation" flexi-disc (FAC 28) as the extra track after "Incubation" on the B-side. Jack Dangers lifted the rhythm track from "As You Said" (heck, the whole song's mostly the rhythm track) whole-hog and made an inspiring pairing of it and the piano line from Steely Dan's "Ricki Don't Lose That Number" to produce the Meat Beat Manifesto track "Hello Teenage America". (Wrigley's Fun Fact #123) Now if only people would offer me $300+ for my FAC 28 like with this "Ambiant Otaku" FAX thing, I could make some serious money ... :-) - Greg (Who thinks it's absolutely hilarious that the bidding on MASK 1 and MASK 2 is getting up to the heights scaled normally only by such limited edition masterpieces as Joy Division's Sordide Sentimentale "Licht Und Blindheit" 7" w/ "Dead Souls"/"Atmosphere", still the greatest single ever made ... IMHO)

Actually the sample was lifted from a jazz piece by the Horace Silver Quartet which predates the Steely Dan song. I actually thought it was Steely Dan at first until I heard the real source on a local jazz station. It was discussed at length on the Zombies listserv(Meat Beat)... Ross
