This is all pretty fucking sick.
165 dollars for four tracks, $165 is about
21 12"s on Modernmusic (average price $8)...
I don't blame Henrik or anyone else holding
an auction (I myself offered 500 SEK with is
about $62, still a lot, but I don't blame
anyone for not accepting 500 when he can get
1300 instead), I understand that there are
few other ways of doing this (closed auction
is one), but I just want to stress that it's
a big shame that the one with the most money
always grabs things even in this field. I
know that this is how things work in this
marketbullshitworld of ours but when the
DEMAND is SOO MUCH bigger than the SUPPLY and
something can be done about it, I think it
should be done (which was the original
intention with this mail). I know there are
a couple of folks from labels on this list
and here is my plea:
don't limit editions and REISSUE!
Although I already had the original CD of
Analogue Bubbelbath 3 I went goo goo when
Rephlex reissued it, not only did it drive down
the prices (I saw it at $80 before the reissue),
but it also made a great recording available to
people (which is basically the most important
thing), I've got the four Joyrexes, but I'd
still like em to be re-printed, all on fucking
white vinyl! ;) (and I don't have Legofeet, so
please, Skam... :).
I understand that is costs money to keep
everything in print, and if money's lacking
that's a good excuse. However, there are
really no excuses for labels that make records
in 1000 copies with a secondhand value of $60
(Jega, SKA006) to make a 12" in 100 copies.
And folks, don't hesitate:
Burn CD boots of deleted releases!
Dub!
And do us all a favor.
Thanks all for 1997.
Word,
Fe.
