there was a review of this in a recent Vital Weekly. the reviewer said it was ok, not great. a competent release with an intriguing concept that nonetheless doesn't quite make it past, well, just sorta ok. of course, vital's been ramping its anti-mp campaign of late, so take that with a pincha... sc

Well, i have to agree. IMHO, Of the recent 'drill n' bass' comps, this one falls right in the middle. (better than spunk jazz, not as good as noodles) Six artists involved : more from no future/mosquito than spymania (though the drill n' bass v. 'weirdbeat' techno tracks are split) . Hardy Spymania aka Hardy Finn aka Barry Pseudonym aka comeonfeelthenothing aka 1/2 wafta; DJ Decay aka Christian Vogel; Mat Yee-King aka Mat Consume(the no future guy), i think...;marvelous mdk=??; milky boy is involved with bovinyl someway...much better than the other bovinyl cum. ; oh, and jamie lidell aka jamie lidell (mosquito); not really in the mood to write a full review (i'll post one tomarrow), but here's the tracklisting: Hardy Spymania: Scum Milky Boy: the last atari Jamie Lidell: onabouldapushin Matt Yee-King: Shrink Panther Milky boy: Kate's Rush DJ Decay: Buckaroo Jamie Lidell: riddlin the marvelous mdk: ultimetly boring (but easy) Matt Yee-King: Drink The Cuntshake Milky boy: What I Hate Deserves It DJ Decay: Too Much of The stuff actually, it's more like the artist is 'trash' (which is a group consisting of all six members), but each track is credited to only one artist. it's pretty good stuff... doesn't really leave much of an aftertaste though... a lot more 'cross pollination', traces of rock and stuff. definatly pick up Noodles 1 [deathofcool] first [end]

Mat Yee-King is not Mat Consume...... he is in fact the guy on the answerphone message on 'Big Loada'. He is also the person sexually assualting a stuffed lion in the inlay.

found this at the Force Inc. site, might help answer a few questions (well, maybe not, there's no artist on the comp as Dirk Deux Feuxneux): "TRASH is a new project from six Brighton producers leaded by techno star CRISTIAN VOGEL who also compiled the album. Under the name of DJ DECAY, CRISTIAN VOGEL produced two stunning tracks for the album. Also involved in the project MAT YEE KING. After attending the same school as SQUAREPUSHER, he studied genetics at the University of Leeds. He is by all accounts the Big Boy when it comes to the question of drum programming and is also handy with a real drum kit playing in Brighton band Balzac. DIRK 'DEUX'FEUXNEUX otherwise known as Hardy Finn, head honcho of Spymania records has recently recorded for two cutting edgecompilations: Spunk and Noodles. THE MARVELLOUS MDK is an american hardcore fan and pig city skater. JAMIE LIDELL is the don. After a youth spent almost entirely listening to Prince records, he has emulated the small yet great one by being a techno virtuoso. He has released on Mosquio and Tresor. JAMIE LIDELL's vast array of digital talents sits so very well with his naturl singing, musical and beatbox capabilities that TRASH is the ideal home for his inimitable trax. MILKY BOY is the boss of cult label Bovinyl records. Now TRASH is a new home for these six extraordinary producers who are producing at the frontier of hard disk and digital recordings. A voluminous digital sound machine. " |||multpapaatnasyovdaorthnyaolepya
