ive been meaning to post this review from the dec 5th Times, its in with all the Christmas albums in an article titled "From Sacred To Silly: Chestnuts Roasting on the CD Player" ACID XMAS (Street Beat Records) "Call it electronica, rave, techno, acid hose or whatever, but the sure sign that this formerly underground music has irrevocably collided with the mainstream is the fact that the genre now has its own Christmas album. Culled from Miami-area musicians, producers, and disk jockeys, this stocking stuffer for ravers is, unfortunately, mostly predicatable, forgettable, and dated. Most songs simply top the pitch-shifting of Roland synthisizers and pounding distorted drum machine beats with squeaky carol melodies. There are a few standouts, however, particularly "Jingle Bell Rock" by the producer and Planet Soul member George Acosta, who manages to subvert the formulas of both techno and Christmas music to come up with a haunting, soulful, and funky hybrid." Neil Strauss at the very least i assumed people would be humored by this, hence i posted it. :) happy holidays blah blah blah.... andy
