With all of these unflattering posts on my man Spooky, I'd thought I'd toss in (off??) my own experience. I saw DJ Spooky spin in Minneapolis and I thought it was wicked. One part that blew me away was him chopping up this nasty-assed drum and bass together with some feedback static, slightly bleeding one into the other like some stellar communication smashing through the atmosphere. It was sooo psychedelic I thought I'd have to take a cab home afterwards. Maybe that was the **special** peanut butter/mushroom sandwich... I liked his mix CD on Knitting Factory ["Necropolis"]. I mean, I thought I was the only person who bought that Sablon Glitz "UFOnic" 12" remix on Organico, but it's layered in there! And "Songs Of A Dead Dreamer" smokes, too. Can't vouch for much else, but my friend scored a mix tape from him in Chicago and it's on heavy rotation in his beater. If you want to hear DJ Spooky yerself, there's a sound clash between him and Alec Empire (!) at: http://www.icf.de/cgi-bin/RIS/ris-display?852046318 "Keep on smokin' it!!!" -- Ozzy on "Speak Of The Devil" 2xLP np: Panasonic remix o' Einsturzende Neubauten "NNNAAAMMM"
