Basically, I just encoded the whole kid koala album 'Scratchcratchratchatch' in realaudio. But I have no space to put it up on my account since I filled my space upped with the mask2 mp3's. I require only about 4 megs of space for the realaudio. If no one offers me any space, I'll probably just take down the mask2 mp3's since i assume everyone's already downloaded them. ps. I'm also planning to encode the DJ Food audio scrapbook soon. There's three tracks where DJ Food jams with Squarepusher, pretty funky stuff. Look out for that about next week or so. That's all for now! AtL-5

Beware IDM'ers. I just heard a lengthy report on NPR which consisted largely of Major Label types demanding a crackdown on people providing copyrighted music free on the internet. Apparently its coming before congress for some handwaving and hoopla. They claim to be losing billions and billions of our dollars to these internet pirates!!! So ahoy ye swabs. Watch ye tongues. The law be lookin for ye soon!! Mark Edward Bowen Warmed Breakdown mb@gettins.bche.uic.edu

Being a bit of computer idiot and all, what is the actual quality of the downloaded music that you get of the internet? I really don't have much of a problem with people putting mix tapes by our artists up in these formats. Actual full Ninja Tune releases would be a whole other issue, but really, if someone wants to have the music but is not willing to pay for it they can get it other ways aside from the internet anyway. If people started making all the artwork and packaging available to download then yes we would have to do something about it. One should always remember that ultimatly you are screwing the label and most importantly the artist when you do not pay for the music. Contrary to popular belief, most indies are not overly wealthy and every bit makes sure that we have a future. Take Care Ninjas

Varies. Most of the stuff refered to on this list is 28.8 Real Audio and sounds like AM radio. It's just enough to get people interested in the music. It probably increases sales. I've bought stuff after hearing the real audio. MPEG Layer 3 (MP3) audio sounds about as good as a cassette dub of a CD and could well be regarded as a threat to sales if the internet was a free resource. But it isn't free. Downloading a 50 Meg MP3 instead of buying the CD/Vinyl is bad economics.

Last thing we want. On this list the few MP3s that have been put up are of rare deleted titles. If the labels had any sense they'd respond by re-releasing the material. We're just busting to get the music and we do whatever it takes. -- Q-Force qforce@holon.net http://www.holon.net/qforce/
