Ali sez: >I'm assuming you mean "Why categorize music" here(i haven't been watching >this thread). If this is your question, the answer is easy. First example: i >walk into a music store, and would like to find the new Scanner disc...where >do i look? If there aren't any categories, i'm lost as all hell. Why? You never learned the alphabet? I'd say your best bet would be to look under "S".... Your radio show argument makes more sense. How would we communicate about music without labels and categories. Of course electronic music is notorious for over-categorization and that basically sucks since the names usually have no real meaning. Like drum'n'bass: last time I checked, about 90% of all popular music has drums and bass, right? It only means something once you know what the person's talking about. They're code words more than categories. I dunno, whatever... bye, Brian
