Read into this whatever you want :) "Addicted To Noise staff writer Gil Kaufman reports: The touring electronica festival, Chaotica, which was tentatively scheduled to feature the Chemical Brothers, the Orb, Orbital, Meat Beat Manifesto the Prodigy and several other of the movement's top stars, has been shelved for the time being according to the producer of the event, Gerry Gerrard. The festival, which Gerrard had hoped to grow to a dozen dates based on the successful one-off event held last summer in the San Bernadino National Forest (which featured the Orb, the Chemical Brothers, Underworld and Meat Beat Manifesto) was dealt a serious blow when it was announced yesterday (March 28) that both the Prodigy and Orbital would be appearing on the Main Stage of the Lollapalooza tour. Since the festival was scheduled to hit a few of the same markets as the current Chemical Brothers/The Orb tour, organizers decided to mothball the event for now and concentrate on a few select summer dates, possibly in New York and Miami. Gerard told ATN part of the problem was that the Prodigy "just wouldn't commit to doing the tour, and without them we needed to find another viable headliner, which we couldn't do." Gerrard mentioned several possible replacements organizers discussed, including the Underworld and Leftfield, both of which, however, are too busy recording their upcoming albums to join up on a tour. "We need to seriously re-think the event," Gerrard said, "hitting the same markets (as the Chemicals tour) is not a problem, but we felt we needed four headlining bands, not three." _____ / ,-,_) /,_) (/ RESH Live & Direct from the G-Spot, Orange County, California, USA http://www1.linkonline.net/fresh/fresh.htm

I read into it that Addicted To Noise gets their "news" by reading Rolling Stone. According to Steve Price on the Orbital list -- who's in regular touch with the Hartnolls -- Orbital were never scheduled to play Organic this year and are not currently scheduled to play Lollapalooza. They're spending the summer working on their new album, not touring. -- ::: Lazlo (lazlo@swcp.com; http://www.swcp.com/lazlo) ::: Internet Music Wantlists: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo/Wantlists

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Yeah who gives a rat's ass, Irvine is the worst city on this planet (just go to the Spectrum and you know what I mean). I went to the very first Lollapalooza many years ago at the Meadows and it's tortorous. please Gonzi don't tell me you'd go to this show? I can't immagine sitting in the summer heat during the lunch hour watching Orbital on stage, we couldn't see their grease monkey lights on their heads:( you know I don't mean to start another "Oh no they're gonna be the next big thing" thread, but keep in mind Lollapalooza is really what broke NIN into the mainstream (Trent owes Perry Farrell a ton). Immagine what Lollapalooza could do for these techno artists. It's comming......gil ps can someone tell me which one is Phil and which is Paul. Simple, who's the bald one???

I'd probably go to Lollapalooza this year if Orbital and Prodigy are actually going to play. It's torture here in Phoenix though, the tour comes through in August when it's over 110 degrees out in the day. It gets down to the mid 90's at night. blah...kind of hard to enjoy the music in the heat and humidity.
