Haven't been payin attention lately.. so if this has been reviewed thus far im sorry to steal yer bandwidth. Compilation from new swedish label Dot: The Knights Who Say Dot. Anyone familiar with the recent first four 12" from Dot knows they've got a quite a span in their artists. Fleetin monotonous lovely breaks to aphex-like developing rhytms to clear-cheesy funked up cute melodies. All of it executed with a wink n tons of talent. The compilation produces 6 new tracks, sadly enuff nothin new from quant. tracks Quant: intestinal sound i like this both of em taken from the Quant 12". excellent tunes. breaks my heart nothin new came out of this guy.. oh well: starts out slow n clear with breaks developin a minute or so into the songs. fast fleetin breaks with funk on top. I love this guy, wish he'd let me buy'im a beer someday. Hab: Save the adults Pan Save the adults is the new tune, Pan is from HAB 12". Smilin music with a touch of rdj in breaks and slow movin SAW melodies. Makes u wanna hug sumone.. there's no question where this guy gets his inspiration. Both the 12" n the new song breathes all the lovely asphexts u can think of. Save the vocals, if ur into those. oh yeah.. the name aint taken from hangable.. he had it before the hab1 release. Friend: The sauna affair Eight ball The sauna affair is the new song, Eight ball is from the Chromosome for sale 12". Sauna could be DnB but kinda escapes through the same small hole that Tom Jenkinson did. There's no acoustic bass or anything.. but there's the playfulness, control and innovation i think sqrpshr is soaked with. Eight ball is one of the stickiest songs from the four Dot 12"'s this far. Slazenger, clear n' no hurry whatsoever. Lovely tune, grows on ya til u cant understand why everything isnt as fucked up as this. Tupilaq: Married the dragon Pollen 23 Pollen 23 is off volver ep 12", Married.. is the new song. Autechre fans will probably like the volver ep, including pollen 23. personally i dunno.. sometimes i like it, sumtimes i dont. Married the dragon is sumthing new. Hits u like acid (not the drug) but then u realize its still Ae-influenced music.. perhaps on the wrong speed tho. Much better than tupilaqs previous tunes imo. Roupe: Timelapse Remixed one of the tunes on quant 12", n did a hell of a job on it too. Timelapse is a new tune, with the same feelin as the quant mix in a new form. Breakbeats n stuff. Some weird vocals. As close to the regular DnB scene as this compilation gets. Placid angles: Beauty of life I dont know where to put this. Sumwhere close to older GC releases perhaps. Tiptoeing melody with some strings n weirdness in the background. Lovely, short n precise. Shows promise. Doktor Kosmos & Friend: I love You (huh) Repetitive, not quite as impressive as the rest of the compilation. Catchy tho, n kinda naively nice in a way. Got some wall of sound rhythmic aspects. Rounds things off rather well. to sum things up... go buy it. cant get it? mail 4thworld directly or check out their homepage: http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/4thworld/ they've got it n they're nice. there's no way to tell u how much u'll love this compilation. i've had three listens since i picked it up earlier today, n it just wont get out of my head. im swede, n ive been waitin for it.. so maybe im biased.. but wtf. i cant recommend it highly enuff. BUY!! BUY!! BUY!! feel the need. Oa / mono / daddydabone *smilin* cause of.. The Knights Who Say Dot: onnow.
