hello i would like to take this opportunity to clarify a few things that i said in the brainwashed dog post, and my intention then will be to resign myself from being involved in any sort of personal or political debate on this list, because this is exactly the kind of thing that bores me to tears on this list.... no more contradictions, i will remain only for the exchange of information i try to choose my words carefully, and that's why i'm bothered by all of this "well my friends who make music hate afx"... i DID NOT say i have trouble believing that people who make/listen to electronioc music passionately DON'T LIKE rdj, i said i have trouble with the notion that they are UNAFFECTED by rdj... my problem with ken's remarks is that he seems to always be brushing off rdj's talents (for whatever reason)... always implying that his music is mediocre and uninspired and that the only reason johan and me and 90% of this list keeps listenning to afx is because his stuff is shoved on us and we lap it all up like robots, and that we're ignorant of the underground (untrue) - imo, it's just as lame to NOT LIKE something BECAUSE it's popular as it is to LIKE something BECAUSE it's popular, in fact the former carries with it an elitism which makes it even worse ... my tastes are purely based on sincere reactions to the music i feel that rdj's talent is inspired, and there is no doubt in my mind that his msuic has deeply affected the cuurent state of electronic music... at the same time, i'm no blubbering afx fan who thinks everything he touches is gold... in fact, some of the things that i don't like about his new album (mainly the sloppy ultra-fast-show-offy drum programming) has affected me in that i'm more appreciative these days of inspired simplicity (b.welt's module 2 in heavy rotation, rubber johnny -cool enough but- collecting dust)... personally (no debates please, this is my OPINION) what i hate about artists like recent-fla/delerium and fsol has affected the way that i approach my sampler... so there you go if you want to respond with a solvent says, please refer to my words, not your interpretations thanks, solvent goodbye
