I am surprised no one has mentioned anything about GusGus (4AD). I'd say it's [Polydistortion] my favorite album so far this year. Everything from ambience w/ Bjork-like vocals (theyre from Iceland), to a house stomper w/ dark & moody synths sounding like early new order to electo & breakbeat. The lyrics are an added bonus (with the exception of a few "Jesus" references...<cringe>). First single [believe] had remixes by 16B & LFO.....missed who did the remixes on the second single (Polydistortion). Heard a review of Apollo 440's new album on NPR. While it's interesting that they've been plugging a lot of techno over the past year or so, i'm disappointed they haven't picked better albums to review.....

yeah, gus gus is wonderful. i have their debut cd on kjol & anderson records (in reykjavik). a friend in iceland sent it to me and it came with a funky fuzzy green cover with the jewel box nicely slipped in. quite nifty. i believe it just came out in the u.s. recently. their debut came out in '95. the u.s. version (i'm told) is a re-release with some re-recorded songs and remixes...is it much different? peace... prymal ========== primal@interaccess.com www.interaccess.com/primal/ A New January - electro/techno/synth music www.interaccess.com/primal/january/ ==========

I've looked for this record after (gasp) having seen their art-film/video on MTV. From what I've heard they are an "art collective", which if you ask me ALL bands should be a part of. (and all artists should have bands in their collective. Art Power!) Is polydistortion the title of the album? Is it out in the USA? -CF
