I talked with him on last Monday here, and he said nothing about it. His first track in seven years(I guess) will be featured in "Ghost In The Sh ell" soundtrack album and titled "To Be Or Not To Be". He said "It's not a d ance track, it's experimental". Also he releases dj-mix compilation(he calls it "Mayday Mix", the name come from his radio show in Detroit between 1988-1990) "Mix-Up Vol.5" here in Japan. He is working on the album, which he hopes to release this year. Tosh

Just the information I was looking for! I was holding my breath hoping that this WASN'T his debut album. Don't hold it against me, Open Records is a great label-but Derrick May should release his debut album through R&S--they did a good job promoting M500's "Deep Space". It would be even better if it was released on Transmat, but I suppose a Detroit artist can't release Detroit music on a Detroit label these days if he expects to see any $$$, eh? Derek ps. proud to see Mr. Ken Downie(TBD) back on track... http://www.ccd.cccoes.edu/~djordan http://www.feedback.com/tbd

??? Ghost in the Shell was released last year in Japan, US, and elsewhere. It's based on the manga by Masamune Shirow (Appleseed, Dominion, Orion, Black Magic) and the anime is directed by Mamoru Oshii (Patlabor OVAs and feature films). So does this mean there's a new or delayed soundtrack for the movie coming out with Derrick's track? Isn't there a soundtrack already? I can't imagine otherwise.
