Sounds kind of like a whacky Chris Jeffs to me - those beats are similar to some of the _Cylobian Sunset_ stuff.

Yup. Really enjoyable and at the same time, its got this plangency (sp?) to it, in the same way that RDJ's "chessey" stuff can be really quite beautiful. I like it - esp. track like _Skip Glider_. And I like the deer on the cover with 'Goon' written across it. It'd make a great t-shirt :) || [CiM] || simonw@ftp.com || http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Alley/4492/

Yes, that will be fine. Could you also get me a video tape from the recording session, as a final proof? In PAL format, please.

As far as i´m concerned, the only thing worth the money on the goon album is the sleeve art. Musically, the album isn´t worth that much. It contains some songs that, at its best could be regarded as _entertaining_, but i´d say that this album is something that one can live without. I think it would have been better of as an EP or something with only the highlights on it. If anything could be regarded as highlights, that is... heh, gg was just about the most refreshing thing last year for me, the track about half way in with the i care because you do beats and that reverbed aphex clang bit is a definite favorite. having said that I don't think I've managed to get all the way to the end it does run out of ideas a bit.

I actually wound up liking this record better than many of the more hotly anticipated Rephlex goods (DMX, Bochum, Cylob). It's a nice twist on the Paradinas/James canon that's both lighthearted and very clever. He only sings on a few tracks and it blends well when he does. There's something vaguely Beefheartian about it in my mind. Miles

I should have bought this in Chicago last weekend. I would have but I was really put off by the "AKA Aphex Twin" sign on it at Reckless. I walked into a store last week to sell some cd's, and just out of curiousness (this was a typical music store with very little imports) went to see what AFX cd's they had. They had Global Goon labelled Aphex Twin, I tried to tell the ppl there that it was NOT Aphex Twin, but they insisted that someone from the band Aphex Twin had something to do with it, heh.. they wouldn't believe me.. and I heard from someone else in ND the same thing. huh just a bit for a laugh :) -- Hillie aka Aurafix / PHD ja DAMONES hillien kotisivu - http://www.clark.net/pub/buh/index.html phase distortion - http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~airou/phd/ easy internet services - http://huizen.dds.nl/~eis Do re mi fa so la ti..
