Muslimgauze: Fatah Guerilla
Ltd Ed 295/700
Staalplaat
This is a triple CD set. IMHO Fatah Guerilla is MGs best so far
(from what I've heard of his vast musics.)
Disc one is ambient dub. Melodic, psychedelic, weird...perfect
for a good chill room. Place yourself on an flying rug and float
away.
Disc two is some of the best dance-oriented industrial-tinged dub
that I have heard in a long time. Nice use of sounds and textures
and some housey stuff. Imagine the sounds from his last few
"noisier" CDs put into a dub-dance context. Nice. Aphex-y at times
and Paradinas-y at others...better mostly <asbestos ON>
Disc three is a killer, too. Its some of the most funky ALIEN dub I
have ever heard. This would make the founding DUB Heroes that have
been recognized on this list quite proud. Something like U-Roy vs
FSOL & Cyclob. No politics here either. Unlike the first 2 discs,
there's no (gratuitous?) use of anti-Semitic titles or religious
references.
...which reminds me that his music is very politically-charged, and
not for everyone...In a way, its a shame that that *has* to be the
case; this stuff is *very good* from an entirely musical perspective.
One of the best collections of (third generation) dub that I have
EVER heard.

would be good sources of this triple disc.
It was about 30 bucks I think, but worth it imho.
Since I last spoke to IDM:
1. I changed residences across town in New Orleans. Hired help for
the heaviest part...which was??? (Guess?)
16,000 rekkids...
...my collection of electronic and dance music spanning 20 years now!
...some rock and disco, too.
2. As several of us were eating pizza and packing boxes (rekkids) at
the old residence, an "uinvited guest" walks in with his hand down
the front of his pants (!) and says "Give me your wallets and money
and don't give me any ****". My friend had NOT had a good day. He
jumped onto the guy, and I followed...pizza in hand (!). We rolled
onto the lawn through a fire ant pile (!), and finally subdued the
guy as the police arrived about 10 minutes later. The police
handcuffed the guy to the crepe myrtle tree in the front yard right
on top of the fire ant pile again (!) The "guest" had bit my friend
on the leg through his pants producing a wound which required a visit
to the emergency room of the hospital at which I work (!) as well as
rabies (not really) and tetanus injections.
3. Lots of new GOOD music:
Kid Loops Vs Cool Breeze: Special Project (Filter Filt 012)
Palm Skin Productions: Remilixir (Virgin)
Nobukazu Takemura: Childs View Remix (mixes by ColcCut, Wagon Christ,
Aphex, Reflection, and more...) (99 Records)
and the list goes on...
(Sorry for the waste of bandwidth. And, I don't necessarily endorse
MG's politics just to review his CD. Yada yada yada.)
