First, regarding the recent "sold out" DJ Shadow appearance in LA at Spaceland, you can bet that most likely the reason it sold out so quickly was due to Hollywood insiders getting on the list in droves, more than likely a lot of people who know nothing of the boy-genius' works previous to Endtroducing were crammed in there, trying to look cool, drinking Jaeger shots and talking too much, meanwhile I can picture Josh bust Furious 5 and rare breaks off scratchy 45's....I hope for his sake that the crowd didn't suck too much as that venue often coattails trends and trend-setters. Secondly I'm announcing (ala Joe Rice) a limmited offer to IDMer's of two mixtapes for (nearly) nothing, here's the deal: TAPE 1: "60 [Minutes To Go]" an ultra-limited mixtape and originally Pt.1 of the -connect: freetape series, originally made to celebrate the recent W.S. Burroughs retrospective at the LA County Museaum, includes tracks by Jega, Monolake,Vango Noir, Panasonic, Repeat and Terrance Dixon, 60 minutes, 5 copies have been printed up and will be shipped free (not incl. postage) to the first 5 people who respond with e-mail giving address. TAPE 2: "Touching Fire" a 90 minute drum n' bass mixtape that focuses on ambient and electronic-influenced DnB.Tracks from Dom&Roland, Photek,Mastermind,Twisted Anger,Solo, Foul Play, Blame and Wax Doctor. Available to the first 10 resondants for $3 post-paid. Lastly, anyone in SF area should check out the final night at Hedquarters a weekly club thing we've been doing since July. Guest DJ's will be Jon Santos (Mad)spinning electro and ambient breaks, Ron & Vanka (Stellar Trax Soundsystem) playing dub and jungle plus residents Tomas (Umoja HI-Fi) and Marcus (Cosmic Flux) playing various blends of downtempo and mid-tempo wierdness and deep drum n' bass. Location is Voodoo 601 Eddy St. at Larkin, cover $5, 21w/ID. look for some one-offs soon from the Hedquarters crew. In the mean time, the sppot for jungle at the moment is the fortnightly Audio Impact at Cocodrie club on kearney at Pacific in Northbeach, brought to you by BASS KRU and Hunab Ku distribution, 18+, $5, amazing sound by Gateway soundsystem (Burning Man). Check it out for drum n bass pressure! More -connect: un-ltd info soon. stay posted and plugged in. connect@sirius.com
