hello all- just put up a couple of real audio previews from two new drop beat records: spl 13 timeblind "cataclysmajiggy ep" -- low-down and funky beats crossed with gonzo experimental vibes spl 14 downpour "destroy it yourself ep" -- the long-awaited second ep delivers harsh digital noise combined with deep, minimal interludes follow the links to our "coming soon" page. these two ep's are due out in a few weeks, at which time we'll post up more artist info and real audio. also added real audio and a slew of reviews for the malcolm arthur and kaman leung records (both just repressed), some charts and other goodies. mike np: twisted science - fragments

Good to see that both the Malcolm Arthur & Kaman Leung records just got repressed because both are excellent releases which, unfortunately didnt get a whole lot of mentions on this list. Both these releases occupy the grey areas between techno, house, funk, downtempo and electronica. I hear that there is a Malcolm Arthur album forthcoming as well. Another gem to look forward to. i stumbled onto the kaman leung 12 a couple of months ago, and i'm sure glad that i did! totally deep and dark hiphop/downtempo. and like everything on dropbeat, i'm not at all sure what speed it's supposed to be played on ("33/45". . .what the hell is that?) on a semi related note, the guys at drop beat used to run an excellent mailorder record shop with all kinds of good techno, house and drum and bass. i used them exclusively for about a year and never had any complaints. once they called me during peak hours to tell me that finished copies of some rec that i had ordered were in (i had ordered a white) and asked if i would prefer to be sent a finished copy! after that i was hooked. . .unfortunately they soon closed their mailorder to concentrate on the label :( --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
