Hey y'alls, I'm in the email zone today...this one has some actual music content! I couple weeks ago, I picked up a new cd entitled Reflections on Reflections. I assume As One to be the name of the artist...? Real name appears to be Kirk Degiorgio. Anyway, this is quite a nice cd. It's all remixes of As One done my several artists, including Autocreation, B12, Scanner and Carl Craig. Can anyone provide me with more info on As One, including a review of the original album, Reflections that this seems to remix. I'm sure I've seen the name Kirg Degiorgio mentioned here before...Anyway, I'm especially fond of the B12, Autocreation and Terrace remixes (why does the name stefan robbers ring a bell?). If anyone is interested, I could post a full review... Peace out, The Dragon Reborn -------------------------------------------------------- "You have to burn in order to shine." - Coil --------------------------------------------------------

The man is a major player!! Kirk(aka As One,Future/Past) was behind the legendary A.R.T. label , one of the finest 'pure techno' labels to have emerged from the UK, he licensed material to Carl Craig for the famous ART ep on Planet E (Balil(Black Dog)/Future Past) , as well as domestically releasing early material from B. Dog & B12 , the first 4 ART singles are now much vaunted collector's items , check out the "Object's D Art" 2 x CD (New Electronica) for an overview of this period. The label went on to release a hanful of CD's plus 5 more singles before transforming into it's current incarnation Op - Art (Now up to No.3 , including Photek & Steve Paton singles) , have a full discog of As One somewhere (ART/Likemind/New Electronica/A13 etc.. releases), but do not have to hand!

If you like the remix, you'll like the original. Different, but great quality techno...A full review would take me a couple of days, sorry. Kirk Degiorgio plays some of the best stripped down, funky techno I've heard from Europe, and his relation to New Electronica has been most fruitful.

Also the fella behind Florence... Hyperreal, of course, has a disco for Eevo Lute with many releases by Mr. Robbers and Friends including the amazing Max404 releases: http://hyperreal.com/music/labels/eevo_lute/ -- Knock ya'self out! David

You should also check out the CD "Applied Rhythmic Technology" Cat No. ART 4CD It's one half Black Dog and the other Kirk Degiorgio under the names As One and Future/Past. It's rather good IMHO. :-) bye, Eric.

Hmm..deleted eh? That would be a problem. :( Actually, having had a look at the track listing of Objects D'Art, it would be an excellent buy. I think there's stuff on there that you couldn't previously get on CD. CYa, Eric. ... NP: Scanner - Spore

EXACTLY!!! I think it's quite an injustice that he's not listed at hyperreal nor is ART... Sooooo, I'm going to take it upon myself to compile a list and submit it to hyperreal. Here's what I have and I'll list what I need track listings for as well. ART label ------ 12" ART1 De Giorgio/Black Dog ART2.1 De Giorgio/Black Dog/B12 ART2.2 De Giorgio/Black Dog ART3 Craig ART4 (unknown) ART5.1 Unexplained Phenomyna (track list needed) ART5.2 Unexplained Phenomyna (track list needed) ART6 Elegy (track list needed) ART7.1/B1214.1 De Giorgio/W. Bauer/B12 ART7.2/B1214.2 De Giorgio/Elegy/B12 ART2CD The Philosophy Of Sound And Machine ART4CD Applied Rhythmic Technology ART5CD Unexplained Phenomyna Op Art label ----- ??? (I didn't even know there was such a thing until recently) New Electronica Label ----- elec5cd/lp As One - Reflections elec6t As One - Mihara 12" elec9cd/lp Objects D'Art (collection of ART1-ART3) elec23cd/lp As One - Refletctions On Reflections elec24cd/lp??? As One - Celestial Soul (track listing and proper cat# needed) elec25t As One - We No Longer Understand Clear label ----- CLR417 As One - The Message In Herbie's Shirts Planet E label ----- PEART De Giorgio/Black Dog That's it. If there's stuff missing, please write me. Obviously remixes he's done would be most helpful as well. On a similar note, why the hell isn't hyperreal's lists of New Electronica updated and WHERE'S B12???? Man, that place needs some upkeep. I know I'm bitching, but at least I'm trying to do something about it. If everyone on IDM could go check out their favorites (no, not REPHLEX you bastards, that's been done to DEATH!) and take it upon themselves to complete them, the place might get up to par at least. (please note I'm being sarcastic in my presentation so just get the message even if you don't like how I present it)
quoted 1 line Terrace is Stefan Robbers (main man behind Eevolute)>Terrace is Stefan Robbers (main man behind Eevolute)
Stefan is behind much of the Dutch scene. He's half of the Acid Junkies and did a major part in helping Saskia Sledgers get DJAX-UP-BEATS their artists in the beginning. He's been on 100% Pure as well. It's my belief that he's been as much a major part of bringing Dutch techno to the world market as Orlando Voorn. Eevolute Musique has done an incredible job bringing interesting and highly experimental music to the world via the Dutch underground. I can't hype his influence enough... _ -robert | |___ ____ ____ _____ | |_ \ / -__/ / _/ | _ \ __________ |_____/ \___\ |_| | |__/ / -studio- \ _________________________________ |_| http://icse1.ucsd.edu/~rcurlee/ \
