Various : Blechsdottir (Warp CD44) Different music from different records by different people. It's CD only this time, mixed by PC and Strictly of the Ninjas, and infinately better than its predecessor which is now little more than a bad memory. The artwork is courtesy of DR (who else) and is brilliantly entertaining, I still find new things every time I look at it. Musically, it is equally good, featuring tracks by Autechre, Disjecta, LFO, Aphex Twin, Jake Slazenger, NOW, Freeform, The Black Dog, B12, DJ Mink, Red Snapper, Squarepusher, and Mike Ink - AND unreleased tracks by Plaid, Jimi Tenor, and Mira Calix. The Plaid track is absolutely brilliant and unfortunately, according to the tracklist, is exclusive to this CD. There's still a number of samples thrown in throughout the mix, but this time they work with the flow and aren't intrusive as they often were on the Blech cassette. In a lot of ways, this CD reminds me of the Coldcut JDJ CD but that shouldn't be much of surprise since its the same nimble fingers involved. Wicked, not to be missed. Various : Eurowarp (Warp MC46) Cassette only, given away at dates of Warp's European tour.. Tracklist: Autechre : Carni Freeform : Mastik RAC : Quexos Freestyle B12 : Infosphere Mira Calix : Khala Nothing too out-of-the-ordinary from anyone here, and it's all good stuff. The highlight is the track by Mira Calix, a brilliant brooding ambient track with echoing whispers and distorted fuzzy beats. Can't wait for the debut EP... :: Alan M. Is this all "exclusive" stuff? Any previously released tracks on it? Tracklist? Continuously mixed? (I assume so). Thanks for more info. :) Oh, is it/will it be available stateside? Only the tracks I mentioned (Plaid, Jimi Tenor, Mira Calix) are unreleased. The others have been released, or will be by the time the Blech CD is out.

I though Blech was excellent. I still listen to it in the car the all the time. I especially like the bit where they guy is having the argument with the bomb. Anyone know what thats from?

Surely this CD was mixed by Matt Black and Jon Moore. Cheers Andrew C.

title. Dark Star year. 1973 director. John Carpenter format. Movie genre. science fiction/comedy The movie is excellently hilarious, a B-rate science fiction farce with a philosophical smart bomb, a beach-ball alien and a cryogenically suspended Commander Powell. (N)

Haven't heard this myself so can't be sure but it is probably dialogue from John Carpenter's 'Dark Star'. (Wow, first Ernest Borgnine now this...) Certainly if it's the bomb questioning whether the guy exists and refusing to go back to the bomb bay then it's Dark Star. Classic film. IDM?...anyone got the lowdown on something called 'Dream Sequence[?] featuring Blake Baxter'? (yeah maybe I should take it to 313...)
