I'm still contemplating a UK invasion for the Big Chill weekend (it's on the U.S. Labor Day weekend, which unfortunately also conflicts with Burning Man, but I guess it's 3 days without a shower no matter which way you look at it) and am planning logistics. Does anyone have any inside scoop on where it might be? I've been told 3-4 hours' drive from Heathrow/Gatwick, and 1 hour from Luton International. By triangulation I'm guessing that would put it somewhere in the pie slice to the North of Luton bounded by Milton Keynes and Northampton up the M1 on the West side, and Cambridge up the A505 to the East. Of course I could be completely off ... Also, if anyone's been to previous Big Chills, are there any washup facilities available? After even a day I get pretty rank, and would prefer to not end up looking like one of those Traveller crusties <sarcasm> which all Goa-heads must obviously look like </sarcasm>. A rubbing alcohol "shower" just doesn't quite cut it. And while I'm thinking, are there any places to rent camping gear between London and the site? I really would prefer to not bog myself down with some big backpack/rack etc. (that I don't even own now) on the plane over to Blighty ... Any tales/horror-stories/advice/etc. appreciated TIA, - Greg

Near Norwich, apparently (2/3 hours from Heathrow rising to 4/5 hours if you're driving on early Friday evening, 1.5/2 hours from Luton) The real info is being kept a secret to stop gatecrashers, and after being postponed once, I don't think anyone will spill the beans on the exact location. Hell, we ticketholders haven't even been told ourselves yet... Which reminds me apparently tickets are going fast. And here's the important one - Do Not Turn Up Without A Ticket. There are none available on site, and you wont be able to find out where the site is anyway!

The last Big Chill was pretty small - 500 people instead of 5000. The only washing facility was the little stream behind the cafe tent. (apart from the portaloos of course (Did anyone else see the classic humour painted on the side of one of those things at Glastonbury last year? Turdis :) )

Just go with it, and get rank. Thats my motto at these affairs anyway.

Sorry can't help you there, though I'm sure such places must exist... Cheers Andrew C.
